We are seeking a talented and skilled sushi chef to join a dynamic kitchen team in an upscale restaurant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes while ensuring adherence to food safety standards and restaurant guidelines. This role requires proficiency in handling fish, preparing sushi rice, and ensuring the presentation of dishes meets high culinary standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Skillfully cutting, slicing, and filleting various types of fish.
- Inspecting the quality of ingredients, including fish, fruits, and vegetables, and ensuring only top-quality items are used.
- Preparing a variety of sushi dishes according to established quality, portioning, and presentation standards.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitized work environment to prevent food contamination.
- Regular inventory checks of food supplies and ingredients.
- Reporting any issues with kitchen equipment to the management team.
- Sterilizing all utensils and equipment used in sushi preparation.
- Collaborating with front-of-house staff to accommodate special orders, dietary restrictions, and food allergy considerations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or certification preferred.
- Proven experience in a sushi chef role, ideally within upscale dining establishments.
- Valid food handler’s license.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations.
- Ability to perform well in high-pressure environments and maintain quality under busy conditions.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
